dc.description.abstract Background: Patient satisfaction is the degree of fulfilling patients’ anticipation which is an important component and quality indicator in anaesthesia service. Aim: to assess patient satisfaction with anaesthesia services at hospitals in Sana’a City Yemen.Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was applied from July to August 2017. Simple random sampling was applied to selected study participants hospitals in Sana,a City. Data were collected through face to face interview using structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was included demographic data of patients, Preoperative period, evaluating the operating room holding area and the satisfaction in the recovery room and the post anesthesia visit and assessed the readiness of the patient to satisfaction with anaesthesia services; SPSS was used for statistical analysis. Descriptive measures, including frequency, and percentage,.Results: The majority of patients (69.9 %) were operated upon under general anesthesia, 50.4 % were major surgeries and (70.7 %) were ASA 1., 43.6% of patients were the anaesthetist introduced him/herself to, 98.1 % of patients explained that the approach of the anesthetists were good, 70.7% of the patients were not given adequate information about anesthesia. 85% of respondents were not given a chance to choose type of anesthesia, 63.9 % of patients were not given a chance to ask questions about anesthesia. 76% who get perception in theater room, 96.1% explained that the reception of the anaesthetist was good, 73.7 % of patients did not feel pain during induction of anaesthesia, 76.7 % of participants' privacy was kept by the anaesthetists. 85% of patients had no pain during operation , 34.6 % of patients had no pain immediately after operation, 85.7 % of participants did not recall anything during operation, (77.4 %) were not visited postoperatively . 39.1% of the patients had postoperative sore throat or pain during swallowing of food, 52.6 % had postoperative depression, 49.6 % had postoperative nausea and/or vomiting, 46.6% of patients had postoperative shivering. Conclusion: The overall proportion of patients who said they were satisfied with anaesthesia services in this study (63.6%). Further study should be conducted with large sample size and in different cities in Yemen. en_US
